Tape has memory — so does the model
Most saturation plugins apply the same static waveshape to every sample, no matter what came before. Real tape doesn't work that way: its response depends on the magnetic history of the material. The SAT 456's core is a Jiles–Atherton magnetic-hysteresis model, solved per sample, so the character shifts with the signal the way a real machine does — the difference between a frozen distortion curve and a living one.
